Before winter arrives, the time when you will need your furnace to be functioning at it's best, is the best time to determine whether or not it's time to replace your furnace. After all, you don't want to discover that it is time to replace your furnace once you actually need to use it. It could be weeks before you can receive the furnace and have it installed in your home. So, before winter arrives, here are three signs to consider that show it is time to replace your furnace:

Your Furnace is Old:

Most of the time, a furnace is not going to last over 20 years. If it's been this long, then it's a safe bet that it is time to replace your furnace. Even if your furnace is older than this and you believe it can keep going, there is still a chance that it is not running as efficiently as a new furnace would. This means that you are spending a whole lot of money to run your heat when you could instead invest more money on a new furnace and reap the savings long-term. Keep in mind that if you aren't aware of the age of your furnace, the label on your furnace should tell you.

You Aren't Getting as Much Heat:

If you have the bump the heat up higher than you normally used to, your furnace probably isn't functioning as well as it once did. For this reason, it's always best to replace it even if it's younger than 20 years because you are definitely spending too much on energy costs when running your heat. A good way to determine this before winter approaches is to use the heat on a cold fall day. If you notice that your home isn't heating up, then have the furnace replaced right away.

Your Energy Bills are High:

Check your energy bills from last winter and see if you notice that they were drastically different from the previous years. If they are significantly higher, chances are your heater is no longer working at it's most efficient because it is getting old. At this point, it's much better to replace then attempt to make repairs, especially if your furnace is more than 10 years old.

When you know these three signs it's time for replacement, you can be sure that you don't put it off and give yourself a nice, warm winter this year. Check out sites like http://www.chappels.com/ for more information.
